Despite major scientific progress, HIV remains one of the most stigmatized epidemics in history. Gilead knew science alone wouldn’t end the epidemic. Progress would require visibility, partnership, and collective action.
These stories humanize the statistics and create empathy, encouraging people to support the cause.

Gilead and their partners created ‘Together,’ a unifying framework for their global HIV efforts. We scaled it into a multi-year campaign rooted in local truths. Working hand-in-hand with community partners around the world, we unearthed local stories. Each one was shaped to feel authentic, relevant, and credible within its cultural context.
The campaign came to life through short-form documentaries filmed across multiple countries, including Canada, Australia, Germany, France, and Mexico, and was supported by a global media strategy led by our team. Each story balanced a consistent global narrative with locally relevant storytelling, spotlighting collaboration, innovation, and health equity.
Across multiple years, six documentary features were released in numerous languages, spotlighting real-world progress in HIV prevention and treatment. The campaign overdelivered benchmarks by 5x, reached nearly 200M impressions, and was amplified globally. The stories also helped extend Gilead’s presence across numerous international HIV conferences and are still leveraged today.
