The VP, Strategy at Bensimon Byrne is responsible for shaping the strategic direction of our clients’ businesses, brands, and customer relationships. Combining human empathy with evidence-based thinking, they lead a high-performing strategy team to uncover opportunities, solve complex challenges, and develop strategies that drive meaningful business growth.
As a senior leader within the agency, they play a critical role in elevating the quality of thinking across the organization, contributing to agency growth and reputation, and ensuring strategy is translated into clear, actionable direction that creates impact in market.
Things you do…
- Lead the agency’s strategic output, ensuring work is insightful, actionable, differentiated, and tied to clear business outcomes
- Oversee and elevate the strategy team, fostering a culture of curiosity, rigor, collaboration, and accountability while actively coaching and developing strategists at all levels
- Lead strategy on marquee accounts, high-stakes business challenges, and new business opportunities, bringing clarity and conviction to complex problems
- Turn human understanding, cultural intelligence, business context, and evidence into clear strategic direction that helps brands and businesses stand apart and grow
- Build strong senior client relationships as a trusted advisor on brand, marketing, audience, growth, and business challenges beyond communications alone
- Lead research and insight initiatives including facilitating qualitative research, audience mapping, competitive analysis and foresight strategy
- Partner closely with Business Leadership, Creative, Media, and Delivery to ensure strategic thinking drives the work — not simply supports it — helping teams connect creativity to clear business, brand, and audience objectives
- Continuously improve the agency’s strategic capabilities, methodologies, and ways of working to increase the quality, speed, and applicability of thinking. This includes developing and implementing proprietary tools and frameworks that differentiate our thinking
- Evolve how strategy is practiced through modern intelligence systems, AI-enabled workflows, and smarter approaches to gathering, synthesizing, and applying information
- Contribute to agency growth through business development, thought leadership, client expansion, and strategic consultation opportunities
- Build the agency’s external reputation through industry participation, publishing, speaking engagements, POV development, and visible thought leadership
- Partner with agency leadership to identify emerging client needs, market shifts, and opportunities for growth and innovation
- Ensure strategic thinking is translated into clear, actionable direction that drives alignment, decision-making, and momentum
- Uphold and promote the agency's values of talent and decency, fostering a culture of teamwork, curiosity, and accountability
What you have…
- 15+ years proven experience leading strategy across business, brand and communications challenges
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect strategy to measurable commercial outcomes
- Exceptional ability to uncover meaningful insights from human behavior, research, data, culture, and competitive dynamics — and translate them into actionable and inspiring direction
- Experience leading and facilitating qualitative research, workshops, and senior strategic engagements
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and guide decision-making with clarity and confidence
- A modern understanding of how AI, technology, and evolving intelligence systems are changing how strategy is developed and applied
- Experience building, mentoring, and leading high-performing strategy teams with a strong point of view on craft, quality, and capability development
- Excellent storytelling, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to influence at the C-suite level and inspire internal teams
- The ability to move fluidly between high-level strategic thinking and hands-on problem solving
- Strong instincts paired with strong judgment — knowing when to challenge, when to align, and how to move work forward
- High degree of self-motivation, accountability, and entrepreneurial energy
- Comfort with ambiguity, complexity, and evolving business challenges
- A collaborative mindset and belief that the best thinking is built through partnership across disciplines
- A desire to build work, teams, and relationships that create lasting impact for clients and the agency
Reporting Structure
VP, Strategy will report into our Managing Director.
Three Strategists (varying levels) will report to the VP, Strategy.
